I and my mother, Anna, who is 92 years old, live at the Rittenhouse and frequently saw Thatcher in the elevator or lobby. He always said "Hello" and had a cheerful remark. When he saw my mother having her 90th in Treetops, he came up to wish her a Happy Birthday. We're sorry Thatcher has passed, but we are glad we had a chance to know him a little. Our deceased brother, Joe, knew him through Jack Kelly, who one of Joe's best Center City buddies for many years. God Bless Thatcher, Joe and Jack. A special part of Philadelphia is gone forever.

Your legacy was a lifetime of public
service to all of the people of this
region, particularly the down trodden and oppressed.
The contribution that you made
publicly and privately toward the advancement of minorities will be always one of your greatest moments.

God Bless You. You were a beacon for the city, and now you are at rest after a long battle. May the City continue to follow in your thoughts and guidance.

If there was ever a "Mr. Philadelphia" since William Penn landed, Thach, you are him. Thanks for all the caring and the inspiration you've given. Rest in peace.
