WILLIAM MEEHAN Obituary

MEEHAN WILLIAM E., JR. Bill died on December 13, 2021 from pancreatic cancer, age 67, at his Valley Forge, PA home. He was a longtime resident of Haddonfield, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy (nee Byrne), his daughter, Lily, and two brothers, Brian and Bruce, and their families. A former bank trust officer and business owner, Bill was an author, historian, collector and recognized expert on American Art Deco industrial design. Plans are underway to donate his collection of more than 700 household items from the 1930s and 1940s to the Figge Museum in Davenport, Iowa for exhibition and preservation. Bill was also a passionate fundraiser for the Historical Society of Haddonfield. He wrote two volumes of Haunted Haddonfield, a collection of historic ghost stories and legends, to benefit the Society. Each October, he presented his popular Haunted Haddonfield walking tours. Visitation will be held from 10-10:45 A.M. on Monday, December 20th, at KAIN-MURPHY FUNERAL SERVICES in Haddonfield and his Memorial Service will follow at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be sent to the Historical Society of Haddonfield, NJ.

Bill was a friend in Junior High and High School. My grandparents had an antique shop and told me that several nice young men would visit regularly to purchase antique watches. One day in the school cafeteria, Bill told me that he regularly visited a nice older couple who had an antique shop, and he purchased antique watches from them. It turns out that Bill was a friend of my grandparents as well as a friend of mine.

sorry to hear of the passing of Bill. I have known him since he was 5 years old as a neighbor when he was growing up. Sympathy to Kathy, Lily, Brian, Bruce and the rest of the family.

Unfortunately, we did not know William. We are art collectors and serious stakeholders at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa. Our director, Michelle Hargrave, has spoken of William, and his great love, knowledge, and collecting habits of Mid-Century Modern Design. This splendid collection will extend and diversify our collection at the Figge in exciting ways. This will be only one of William´s meaningful legacies. But for us, at the Figge, it will always remind us of his name and great generosity. Your name will live on William, and we are so proud to receive your collection. Thank you.

Sharing sympathy and caring thoughts. Bill was such a kind, truly nice, caring man. It was my honor to have worked with him and to have known him. So sad to hear of his passing. Wishing God's love and blessings to his wife, daughter, family, friends and other loved ones. RIP Bill.
