William P. Schwartz (Bill) of New Albany, Pa., left us suddenly on July 20, 2006. Anyone who ever met Bill will understand how we have lost a "one-of-kind" person and how he will be sorely missed. His was born and spent most of his life in Port Richmond, Philadelphia, but spent much of his last 20 years in Bradford County. He was a member of the Towanda Legion and VFW as well as the Towanda & Monroeton Gun Clubs. Although he was always busy with some project and continued to work at age 78, he cherished the times spent with his family and many friends the most.
Whether you knew him as Bill, Willie, Turk, Sarge or Slick, you knew him as a get-up-and-go, friendly guy who lived life to the fullest and went out with a bang. He will be best known for his good humor, his generous nature, his brutal honesty and his unusual way of saying things.
I'm not sure what he would say about his exit from this world, but be assured that he valued the time he spent with each and everyone one of you.
