When I was feeling suicidal he took me out of my class and had an hour long conversation before he took me to my counselor then I got taken to a mental hospital. I never got to thank him. If he didn't have that conversation with me I probably wouldn't be here today. So thank you for everyone you've done for me Mr Lee. You were a great mentor to me ever since I came into high school.

I knew Coach Lee from from R E Lee high school. He was always able to relate to the kids so well. He knew when to make us laugh, and when to give us tough love. Either way he got us to play hard for him. He had a big influence on many of us and will truly be missed.

I will always remember Coach Lee for his kindness, laughter, and wisdom. One of my favorite memories with Coach Lee was our time with the girls' basketball team at Freedom. Whether it was on the court, during practice, or just sharing laughs on the sidelines, he always brought so much energy, encouragement, and team spirit. Mr. Lee was the Security Guard who was actually the Teddy Bear of the school. Ever since I came to Freedom, Mr. Lee has been the caring protector who was loved by everyone. Teaching both Shannon and Vershon was such an honor. So glad I got to know this beautiful family. Mr. Lee will be truly missed. We loved Mr. Lee very very much.

Whenever I was working at Freedom HS and saw Mr. Lee he would always say Hi Sunshine to me and give me his signature smile, and a hug. He could always turn a bad day around just by his smile or having a simple conversation with you. He made such a positive impact on the lives around him. He will be greatly missed.

Mister Lee was the best security guard at Freedom High School. He always had a smile on his face, and he constantly tried to make sure that I, as well as many other students at Freedom, were always okay where we were in our life at that moment. His voice will forever echo through the halls of both Freedom and my imagination. As weird as it sounds, I'll think of him even when I go to use the restroom at school, because he won't be in there to help combat delinquency vocally. I won't forget his nickname for me either... it sucked to come to school after the fact and not hear, "What's up, Reesie?", as soon as I walked through the evolv weapon detectors. I'm sure that goes for me and my sister both. I am happy to know Mister Lee was cherished by so many people before he had to go. Thank you, Mister Lee, for always being one of the only people to come to my defense during situations I had with other people. I won't forget what you did for me, and I won't forget the impact you had on everyone.

Vernon Lee understood the priorities of faith, family, and friends. He lived out those priorities by his words and actions in all settings. Beyond being a great husband and father, he was also a great coach, counselor, mentor, protector, and comedian. People loved being around him. We especially remember talking with him as fellow team parents on the Dale City Ravens youth football team. Such beautiful memories. He was so much fun to be around. He was an outstanding role model and really knew how to inspire youngsters to plan and execute the steps needed to achieve their dreams. He did so much in his lifetime to improve the lives of others. What a blessing! The impact of his commitment to improving the lives of others will reach beyond many generations. We mourn his passing. However, we know that he is in Heaven watching over all of us now. He will live forever in our hearts and minds. Thoughts and prayers for Chantelle, Shannon, Vershon, and all of the Lee Family.

My first interactions with coach lee was the girls basketball team, he constantly pushed us to get better but also let us know when we took foolish shots. His wife and kids treated us as family and the love was genuine. Coach Lee was monumental and provided a safe space for myself. I’m praying for peace and comfort to his family.

Dear Chantelle, Shannon Simone, and Vershon Ramone, and Family:

I couldn't believe the news when I heard it. Vernon, you were truly a great human being. You were always the same person no matter what. Dearest Lee Family, embrace your village. To lose a Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Friend, who lived right, worked right, and loved right is a heart wrenching blow. But we must respect Gods plan and know that HE makes no mistakes. Vernon lived a great dash from birth to glory and is missed, but never forgotten. God Bless Each Of You
