Amelia Stamey Obituary

Amy was born in Burneyville, Oklahoma to Amma and Opal Miller. The early years of Amy's life were marked by hardship and resilience – an origin story worthy of a film. She was the youngest of four children. Her childhood home lacked electricity and indoor plumbing, a testament to the challenging times her family endured. At just six years old, Amy lost her mother, and a year later, the family home was destroyed by fire. These life-altering events led the family to relocate to Southern California in search of a new beginning.
Years later, Amy made her home in Bishop, California, where she met the love of her life, Frank Stamey. They were married and built a life together grounded in love, strength and deep companionship.
Amy passed away peacefully at home after a long illness. She was a beautiful soul, kind, a special friend, a loyal friend, and a cherished member of her community.
She was proceeded in death by her two brothers; Amma Miller of North Carolina and Glenn Miller of Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Stamey; her daughter Shannon Bohte; her grandchildren, Christin (Robert) Pischel, Lauren Weiser (Steve) and Brittany Bohte (Aaron) and four beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Ophelia Clancey of Nampa, Idaho.
Amy volunteered at the then Neighborhood Church in Bishop, California as a Sunday School teacher.
Amy was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her strength, kindness, and warmth will be remembered always-and she will be sorely missed.
