Jasmine Dee Reed

1993 - 2015

Jasmine Dee Reed, age 21, passed away on June 20, 2015 after a brief struggle with meningitis. Jasmine's death came peacefully surrounded by people who loved her. Jasmine was born in Denver, Colo. Aug. 10, 1993.
After a difficult early childhood, Jasmine became a foster child in Bishop at age 9. She made up for lost time by excelling in academics, athletics and the arts. Jasmine was a gifted painter and wrestled in High School. After graduating early from Arroyo Valley High School, Jasmine attended College of the Redwoods in Eureka and Cerro Coso Community College in Bishop with the goal of becoming a teacher.
Jasmine had the inner strength and courage to overcome obstacles in her short life. Though a foster child herself, she raised funds while in college to buy Christmas gifts for the foster children of Humboldt County. Jasmine made friends easily everywhere she went. She was generous with her art, giving away many drawings and paintings. A lover of animals, Jasmine was fond of hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits. Jasmine found peace outdoors and enjoyed hiking in the redwoods, camping in the desert and floating the river.
She leaves behind her sister, Rose Ramos; niece Savannah; nephews, Landon and Anthony of Park City, Utah; Taema Weiss, Jeff Griffiths and brothers, Harvey and Owen of Bishop; former social workers Jodi Golden and Holly DeVincent; and friends and loved ones too numerous to list.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Bishop United Methodist Church at 5 p.m. with a reception to follow at 199 Edward St. in Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bishop Rotary Foundation Foster Child Supply Fund at 119 MacIver St., Bishop, CA 93514. Jasmine had the goal of one day becoming a foster parent herself.
