Philip Hutton Obituary

Loving husband and father to wife, Janice, son, Matthew, daughter Rachel and son-in-law Dustin. Proud and fun loving grandfather to Annaleigh, Emmaleigh and Daphne. Brother to Mary and Uncle to much loved nephews and nieces.
Phil was born to Phil and Kathleen Hutton on January 31, 1945 and joined them in heaven on May 20, 2025 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Nampa, Idaho. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Phil was a US Army Vietnam Veteran who passed from Agent Orange exposure that left him 100% disabled.
He was born and raised in Bishop, attended Bishop schools and graduated from BUHS in 1963. He went to work for CIT following his return from the service and worked Installation and Repair as CIT became Continental Telephone, Contel and GTE, finally retiring from Verizon having completed 42 years of service to the people of the Owens Valley. Phil loved his job and appreciated the beautiful valley he got to work in and the people he met each day. He was often the first person a newcomer to Bishop met and was often referred to as the "tall, skinny phone man".
Phil loved God and loved His creation. He never got tired of looking at Mt. Tom or of jeeping up Silver Canyon in his blue 1946 Willys.
He was generous to his family and to his friends. He was hard-working, slow to speak, thoughtful in response and a friend to many.
A celebration of Phil's life will be held at Pioneer Cemetery in Bishop, CA on June 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. Pastor John Cowan will officiate and a luncheon will follow the graveside service at Calvary Chapel on Main Street.
