Rodney Keener Obituary
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Everett Keener; sons, Travis, Ethan, Jonathan and Harrison Keener; his mother, Betty Keener; and sister, Kristy Keener.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Keener; and son, Douglas Keener.
Rod had many friends and many stories to tell. He was a welder, mechanic, cowboy and carpenter – a man of many talents, always ready to lend a hand.
He loved old cars, the '34 Ford was his favorite and he drove it in the Lone Pine film festival and Independence Fourth of July parades.
He also loved old western movies, old country music and was a huge fan of John Wayne.
Rod's celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at the RCA Church of Lone Pine, 550 E Post St.. There will be a private family burial, followed by a reception at the Mt. Whitney Golf Course, 2559 S. Main St. in Lone Pine.
In Lieu of flowers, there is a memorial fund for his boys has been set up at AltaOne in Lone Pine, 11 Mt. View Rd., PO Box 105, Lone Pine CA 93545, (760) 876-4702.
He was a kind soul, great son, a loving father, brother and husband and will be greatly missed.

Rod was an amazing man. Growing up with Travis I spent a lot of time with him. He had quite an impact on me. I often think of him still as I pass along stories and wisdom to my kids. He was always able to take stuff laying around the yard and turn it into something we could have fun with. I appreciate the time I was able to spend with him and am sad to find out about his passing. Rodney was one of a kind !
