Betty Blake Obituary
Betty was born the daughter of Edward and Grace (Royal) Seifert Sr. on Sept. 4, 1925, in DePere, Wis. She graduated from East Tawas High School, Class of 1943. During her working career she worked for the Iosco County News-Herald and worked many years for the Iosco County Courthouse before her retirement.
Betty enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, playing cards, snow skiing, hunting, and playing the piano/violin. She accompanied many ensembles and school programs over her lifetime both in Tawas and in Arizona. Betty was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and very active in the Senior Center in Tawas.
She married Kenneth Blake in 1968 and together they shared 30 years of marriage. During their marriage they enjoyed spending their winter months in Val Vista, Ariz. where she enjoyed many games of shuffleboard with her friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Roberta (Ralph) Otwell, Jeffrey (Diane) Brookbank, Nicki (Lynn) Pillsbury, and Kathleen (James) Nelkie; 12 grandchildren, Timothy, Christopher, Ralph "Barry," Mary Ann, Rachel, Emily, Robert, Mark, Michael, Theodore, Thomas and Donald; 26 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Tim Blake; and siblings, Edward Seifert Jr., Violet Leonard and Gladys Spears.
Per Betty's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family burial has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2023. Memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town National Headquarters 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010.
