Floyd Raths Obituary
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, 706 Beach St., Flint, MI 48502; Fr. James Mangan celebrant. Military Honors will follow the Mass. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
Visitation will be 12-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 7) at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.
Floyd was born in Detroit on Nov. 22, 1931, son of the late Floyd M. and Anna M. (Youngerman) Raths. He married Barbara Schonherr at LaSalette Church in Berkley on May 8, 1954 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2014. Floyd was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent DePaul, Sacred Heart Church and a Eucharistic Minister. He was a Lieutenant with the Southfield Police and a Sergeant with the Beverly Hills Police.
Floyd is survived by his children, Daniel J. (Deborah) Raths, Sally A. Raths, Janet I. (John) Spencer, Thomas P. Raths and Michael D. Raths; grandchildren, Michelle Dowling, Michael, Christopher, Jeffrey, Theresa, Joseph, Sarah Raths, Jason Sobiek, Crystal Markert, Sheree Jamrog, Stephen Raths, Ashley Curd, Hilary Raths and Matthew Raths; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Hailey, Connor, Kayden, Heidi and Mathias; sister, Rosalyn (Gary) Groves.

Floyd and myself worked together since 1960 as partners until he made sgt he was then my supervisor Before our retirement we worked together as shift lieutenants he was a straight shooter and aways had respect from officers under his command He had a nickname for ever officer mine was Willie poo he was a fine Christian man which I will miss Bill kemper
