Helen A. Taylor

Helen A. Taylor of Hale passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in East Tawas at 88 years of age. She was a resident of Tawas Village at the time of her death.
Mrs. Taylor was born in North Bradley and moved to Flint. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1942 and later worked for the City of Flint for 15 years holding various positions with several different departments. While there, she married Russell Taylor, a lieutenant with the police department and then she became a homemaker.
She and her husband retired in 1960 and moved to Hale where they owned and operated the Gem Theater for approximately 15 years. She became a member of the Hale Chapter No. 482 of the Order of Eastern Star. While a member, she held several different positions including Worthy Matron of Chapter No. 482, Worthy High Priestess of Alpha Shrine No. 2 in Tawas City and president of the Alcona-Iosco-Arenac County District Association. She was secretary and treasurer of the Bass Lake Homeowners Association for 20 years where she was a dependable volunteer and will be much missed on the lake.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; and parents, Eva and Joseph Miller.
A private burial will take place at Esmond-Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Taylor's name to the Eastern Star Educational Fund for College Scholarships.
