Mark A. Fisher, 62, of La Porte, Texas passed away on February 10, 2021 in his home with family at his bedside.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1958 to Alois (Bud) and Patricia Fisher in Tawas City. He attended Tawas Area High School and was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball prior to graduating in 1977.
He was raised in the community of faith of Tawas United Methodist Church. Shortly after graduation, he transferred his employment with Kroger to Texas. He married Yvonne Breaux in 1984 and raised his family in League City then LaPorte.
Mark's oldest daughter, Brooke, initiated his journey as a father. He loved their family vacations together and was so grateful for all of Brooke's efforts to help him spend valuable time with his granddaughter Willow. One of Mark's proudest moments was seeing his daughter, Dana, graduate from the University of Texas. He loved attending Longhorn football games with her as it made him feel like a college kid. This included venturing up to 6th Street together after the contests.
Mark's son, Robert, was a light in his life, teaching him about patience and exceeding other's expectations. Mark continued his passion for sports by playing slow pitch softball. Later, his entertainment turned to Harley Davison motorcycle rides with his brother, Mike, and friends. He remained a dedicated sports fan often texting with family members with play-by-play commentary.
Mark achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in General Business from the University of Houston – Clear Lake, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2010. He was a dedicated, hard worker and a supportive mentor, taking many under his wing over the years. His heartfelt and greatest passion to date arrived in the form of a granddaughter four years ago.
Nothing has been dearer to him then spending time with his Willow. Swimming and eating watermelon by the pool were their favorite activities. He fondly accepted his new name of "PaPa."
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Alois (Bud) in 1996. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Fisher; and siblings, Joni Ulman (Ron), Al Fisher (Wendie) and Mike Fisher (Mary); his former wife, Yvonne; and their children, Brooke Fisher (Jarrod) and granddaughter Willow, Dana Fisher and Robert Fisher.
Per his wishes, cremation has occurred. An intimate gathering of family and friends is planned at Grand View Memorial Park in LaPorte, Texas.
