Andrew Smith Horan

Andrew Smith Horan Andrew Smith Horan, 23, died Monday, August 10, in his home at Buckingham Landing. A native of Bluffton, he attended local public schools and graduated from Technical College of the Lowcountry with an Associate of Arts degree in May. He was enrolled at the Savannah College of Arts and Design for the fall semester. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Joseph Horan. Survivors in the family include his fiancÈ and the love of his life, Ashley Stevens; their one-year-old son, Matthew Blayne Horan; his mother, Leigh Smith Horan; grandmother, Fran Heyward Marscher; great grandmother, Margaret Heyward; uncle, Timothy Horan; aunt, Margaret Daniel "Danna" Smith of Brevard, N.C.; great aunt, Dyan Heyward Drew; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Others who were close to Andrew and considered family are: Josh Parlagreco, who made his home with Andrew and his parents at Buckingham Landing for several years; James Nelson "Jimmy" Strait; Justin Long; Jake Long; Dylan Long; Sam Long: Dustin Grant; Matthew Black; Ryan Stacey and Casey Taylor. Friends and family celebrated Andrew's life Tuesday evening with a candle and torch walk to the Buckingham boat landing, followed by the launch of burning palmetto fronds into Mackays Creek. They held a memorial service Saturday at sunset with a circle ceremony at his childhood home, the home he shared with Ashley and Blayne. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
