Hilton Head Island, South Carolina - Bernice "Beenie" Wood died on September 16, 2024 on Hilton Head Island, SC. She was 97.
Bernice was born on August 12, 1927 in Denver, CO to her parents James and Adeline Reddick. She graduated from Loretta Heights College with a teaching degree and taught high school for several years prior to marrying Edwin T. Wood in 1951.
As a consequence of Edwin's job as a geologist and mining engineer, they lived in numerous places in the west, mid-west, east coast and Australia. Bernice and Edwin traveled extensively for fun while living in Australia and then retired to Hilton Head, SC in 1987.
Bernice is survived by seven of her eight children, Crisley Wood of Hilton Head, SC; Janet Riera of Chester Springs, PA; John Wood of Clermont, FL; Jay Wood of Pacifica, CA; Mary Kreindel of Pineland, SC; Katherine Ruane of Southbury, CT; Roy Wood of Van Nuys, CA; thirteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin T. Wood; her son, Kenneth Wood; and her grandson, Colin Ruane.
Bernice will be inurned in the Columbarium at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, Hilton Head, SC. The ceremony date is yet to be determined.
