Dr. Bruce J. McGann Dr. Bruce J. McGann (April 29, 1952-September 29, 2017) - Passed suddenly and peacefully September 29, 2017. Bruce was born in Staten Island, NY, raised his family in Mount Laurel, NJ and most recently lived in Hardeeville, SC. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Vivian and Donald McGann. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 34 years, Allison (nee Aliotta), children Christopher (Melanie), Kaitlyn and her fianc‚ Justin, Kyle (Lorraine), and his brother Gregory (Ron). He was a hard worker, esteemed colleague, but most importantly he prided himself on his title of "Dad". Above all else, he was a family man, providing comic relief in the form of off key singing and two left-feet dancing whenever possible. He began his career as a pulmonologist at LICH in 1981, switching focus to work as a hospitalist initially at Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ and then at Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, SC. In the work place, he was known for his welcoming demeanor, dry sense of humor, and loved mentoring his resident physicians. He and his wife were surrounded by loving friends, with busy weekends full of dancing, board games, and rounds of golf. Bruce was a simple and good man. He was happiest when around his friends and family, including his dogs. He left a lasting impact and touched many he came across in his personal and professional endeavors, spanning from New York to South Carolina. He will be missed and cherished by all of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association are welcome. Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial service will also be held in Mount Laurel, NJ at a later date, yet to be determined.

I was Bruce's friend since first grade. We went to grammar school and high school together. He was the kindest and smartest doctor I ever knew. Bruce, Tommy Murphy and myself were the three doctors to graduate St Peter's boys in 1970. I really loved him as a person and I will pray for him every day. He had great faith in God. I had the pleasure of talking to him just last month, catching up on old times. He was so proud of his wife and children. He was one of a kind. A kind gentle man who always had a kind word for everyone. A family man who told me many stories about his wife and children. Catching the ball my daughter kicked down the isle at the Mt Laurel Target many years ago. A great physician. I worked with him at Lourdes for many years. He will be missed by many.
