Catherine Clark Obituary

Catherine M. Clark Catherine M. Clark, 85, of Branford and former Hilton Head Island resident, died August 13th, 2009 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT with her family by her side. It was on this day she was welcomed into the heavens by a radiant rainbow. Cathy was born January 11th, 1924 in Ontario, Canada to Sally and Dutch Gibson. She met her lifetime love, Bud (George) F. Clark at a summer resort on the dance floor when he asked her to dance. Together Cathy and Bud had two children, Jennifer and Peter. Cathy's favorite moments were holidays and occasions spent with family and close friends. She also loved going out to lunch and visiting with those close to her. Cathy treasured pictures and notes sent across the miles from family and special friends. She enjoyed getting dressed up, especially in the color blue; and no outfit was complete without a set of her pretty pearls. Cathy warmheartedly reminisced about times had and longtime friends made in her former neighborhood, Butterworth Farms in Morristown, NJ. As a dedicated member of PEO, Cathy enjoyed being involved in an organization that helps provide educational opportunities for women. In 1981 Cathy moved to Hilton Head Island, SC where she took pleasure in playing golf and enjoying Island events. For 23 years Cathy resided in Hilton Head Island before moving to Branford, CT in 2004. Cathy is survived by her son Peter and his wife Janice, Guilford, CT, brother William Gibson, Ontario, Canada, grandchildren Jenna Clark, Guilford, CT, Julie Clark, North Attleboro, MA, Sara Hill, Jacksonville, FL, David Hill and his wife Carol, Decatur, GA, Matthew Hill and his wife Pamela, great-granddaughter Alexa Hill, Charlotte, NC, and son-in-law Michael Hill, Hilton Head Island, SC. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband Bud (George) F. Clark and daughter Jennifer Hill. To celebrate Cathy's life, a service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head in the Honey Horn Chapel, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
