Cecelia Thompson Obituary

Cecelia Harris Thompson Cecelia Harris Thompson of Charlottesville, Va. died suddenly on May 11th, 2017. She was born in Rocky Mount, NC December 27, 1941 to the late James and Dell Harris. She attended Rocky Mount Senior High School and Bob Jones University before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina. In Raleigh she met and married the love of her life Stouder (Pete) Thompson on March 30, 1974. Until Pete's death in 2008 they lived a happy and fulfilling life in Raleigh. Cecelia excelled in her career as a Property Manager for Drucker and Falk, beginning in 1979 and ending with her retirement in 1999. She mentored many co-workers who then became her lifelong friends. After retirement she returned to Drucker and Falk as a consultant but also volunteered tirelessly at the Alliance Medical Ministry and the Shepherds Table Soup Kitchen where again she made close friends from her co-workers. She loved walking, water aerobics, Sunday brunch, fresh cut flowers and a little something to change her taste. She was also known for her impeccable style and for her decorating. After Pete's death Cecelia moved to Charlottesville to be near her two "step" daughters Hillary Horn and Allison Thompson. She enjoyed being a member of the Meadows Presbyterian Church and volunteering at Loaves and Fishes- once again cultivating her co-workers as friends and co-adventurers. Cecelia Thompson never met a stranger. She adored her family, extended family, and friends- never missing an opportunity to express that love. She is survived by her two sisters and their husbands: Dell and Bill Scheider of Beaufort, S.C. and Jamie and Craig Kempf of Donguan City, China. She is also survived by her daughter Hillary Horn, husband Jack, daughter Allison Thompson, grandchildren Madison and Sasha Davies, Max Horn and Abigail Horn of Charlottesville as well as bunches of beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. A family night will be held at the Independence on Portico Way in Charlottesville Sunday May 21st from 5-7 PM. A memorial service will be held at Meadows Presbyterian in Charlottesville on July 1st at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to either the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Charlottesville, Virginia, or Kavanah House, Guilin, China. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the UVA Hospital Emergency Room, Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad and the other angels who were present at her passing. You know who you are!

CT touched so many people in her life, her legacy will carry on forever. I am as much better person for having her in my life. She was my first mentor at Drucker & Falk and was also a friend. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends.

So sorry to hear about Cecelia's death. She and I went to water aerobics classes together for several years in North Raleigh. Truly a kind, caring, and inspiring person. And extremely stylish!

So sorry to read about Cecelia's death. She and I were neighbors for many years on Quail Ridge Rd. Lost touch since she moved to Va.
She was a sweet lady.
My condolences to her family.
