David James Painter

David James Painter David James Painter, 78, died on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at his home in Beaufort, surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Carol (Boughter) Painter, his two daughters Wendy Padilla and her husband Tom Padilla, Stacey Painter and her husband Glenn Massamillo, and four grandchildren, Kristin, Andrew, Will and Lucas. Born on July 9, 1938, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, he is the son of the late James G. Painter and Ethel M. Painter. A graduate of Lehigh University (BA&BS) and Harvard University (MBA), David was a successful businessman. Starting in high school, swimming was a life-long passion, and he recently set a world record, in his age group, in the 50 meter freestyle. He was also a very active member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a beloved and generous husband, father and grandfather. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Beaufort YMCA or First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1226, Beaufort, SC 29901. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
