Dolores (Lorie) McKniff Lorie McKniff of Haig Point on Daufuskie Island passed away on Wednesday November 1, 2017. (All Saints Day) She courageously battled Glioblastoma brain cancer for over 4 1/2 years. Anyone who ever met Lorie was amazed by her brilliant gold eyes and constant smile. Lorie was an inspiration to anyone who met her for her courage, strength and positive attitude throughout her life challenges. Lorie was the beloved wife of Mark McKniff for almost 35 years. Their love story started in high school over 40 years ago. Their marriage is the true example of total unconditional love. They were best friends and partners who supported and balanced each other in every way. Lorie was born August 2, 1960 in Brookhaven, PA. She was the daughter of the late Andy and Emma Minarcik. Lorie is now in heaven with her beautiful daughter Devon who predeceased her in December 2006. She leaves behind three brothers Andy Minarcik, Thomas Minarcik and Steven Minarcik all of Delaware County, PA. Along with her brothers Lorie is survived by several nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lorie truly enjoyed life. In 1994 Lorie moved to Roswell, GA with her husband and daughter and spent over 20 years creating countless friendships. In 2013 she moved to Daufuskie Island in SC. Her passions were traveling, tennis, boating and being with family and friends. She was dedicated to expanding the Memorial Scholarship fund at her daughter Devon's high school. The endowed fund awards two scholarships to students pursuing the Arts and Hispanic languages. To celebrate Lorie's life the family is planning a Memorial Service at a later date.
