Don was like a brother to me during our youth in Paterson NJ. We were confirmed together and graduated both elementary school and high school together. He was best man at my wedding and I introduced him to Louise, who he later married. I spoke to him in Italy not long before his death and wondered why he did not call when I was hospitalized in early August 2014 for a serious condition. He was a wonderful friend and always true blue. Over 60 years have passed and the memories are still bright. Sadly I can no longer speak to him or hope to see him again. Joe Iannacone

I just saw you less than a week ago. I'm so happy your trip to Italy was as wonderful as you told me. I will miss your dry sense of humor and candor when it came to my health. Thank you so much for being who I needed. I will never forget you and our sharp jokes. My thoughts are with your family as I'm sure they are devastated. Thank you again for being there when I needed you. What a tremendous loss. I pray you are at rest. Much love.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Pirozzi family as you mourn the passing of your dad. For many years, he was a special part of the life of my family as we shared hours together at the Shenandoah Valley pool and at Henderson Mill Elementary School. I will always have an image of Don in his Italian sandals walking around the pool in the afternoons after work. Both Flora and David loved and respected "Dr. Pirozi" and enjoyed being guests in your home. May your grief of this moment soon turn to the cherished memories of having Don as your dad. Don was an outstanding doctor and a wonderful father to all seven of you.
