Donna May Short

Donna May Short died Thursday, November 6, 2013. She was born February 28, 1928. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer. Donna grew up in rural Champaign, Illinois. She enrolled in St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois where she completed her training and became a Registered Nurse. As an RN she worked at the Miami Heart Institute in Florida, was Charge Nurse in Hot Springs, SD and performed varied nursing duties for Humana hospitals in Orange County, CA. She also worked as a coordinator for Humana Health Insurance Company. When her husband and she bought a radio station in South Dakota she became a full time broadcaster. On Hilton Head Island, Donna worked as an RN at the Cypress Home Health Division for 13 years. Her patients always welcomed her exceptional caring and her ability to bring comfort to the ill. Donna enjoyed the beach, traveling, golf, bridge and watching sports as a spectator, all of which she pursued enthusiastically. She leaves behind an adoring husband, a sister and brother in the Champaign area and a loving stepdaughter and stepson as well as three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They, and all of her many friends, will sorely miss her warm and radiant smile and dedicated devotion. Funeral services will be private.
