Frank Reynolds McCoy Jr.

USN-RET CDR Frank Reynolds McCoy, Jr. USN-RET, 86, of Dataw Island, S.C., died Friday, June 18, 2010 at River Oaks Residential Care Center in Port Royal. He was born in Fall River, MA, son of the late Frank Reynolds McCoy and Anna Knight McCoy. CDR McCoy served his country for thirty years in the United States Navy where he was a combat participant in World War ll, the Korean War and theVietnam War. His personal decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, six air medals, two Navy Commendation medals, two Navy Achievement medals and numerous campaign and service awards. After his retirement in 1972, CDR McCoy was employed for 17 years by the Harris Corporation's Government Support Systems Division in Syosset, N.Y. as Director of Engineering Support. He moved to Dataw Island, S.C. in 1989. He served as Treasurer of the Beaufort County Republican Party from 1993-1995 and served as president of the Beaufort Area Republican Club from 1996-1998. He also served as member and chairman of the Dataw Island Homeowner's Committee in 1994 and 1995, life member of the Military Officers Association where he was the treasurer of the local group, member of the Dataw Island Club and member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara K. McCoy of Dataw Island, S.C.; three children, Frank Reynolds McCoy, lll and his wife Linda of Evans, Ga.; Deborah Ann McCoy of Beaufort, S.C.; John Christopher McCoy and his wife Linda of Naperville, IL; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held on Friday June 25 , 2010 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors.
