Helen Jordan Obituary
Helen Jordan left this life February 27, 2011 and leaves behind many grateful people who knew her loving spirit. She was born in Atlantic City, NJ, one of ten siblings, and learned early to be independent and self-sufficient at the age of 10, when she lost her mom to asthma. After graduating from high school and secretarial school, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she took a variety of jobs, New Zealand Embassy, Triple A, until meeting and marrying her husband Paul in 1950. They raised five children and remained devoted to each other until his death in 2003, whereupon she completed her transition to HHI, SC. Throughout her life, her family was her first priority, dedicating her time and energy endlessly to her children and grandchildren, imbuing them with a love blended with her stoic and optimistic demeanor. She always wore a kind, genuine smile, reflecting the peace and happiness of her soul, and sharing it with family and friends. She maintained that smile in the midst of adversity, especially throughout her declining health status. As she gave love unconditionally, she received it through her many friends and professionals, particularly of note in those final months, Dr. Tom Lenns and his nurse Sheryl, caretakers from Right at Home, and Home Instead, especially Idella Smith, rehab care by Fraser Center, assisted living care by Carolina House, and hospice care by Susan Oliver, all of whose efforts were very much appreciated by Helen and family. Helen now has transitioned to be with her husband, Paul A., grandson, Andrew Patrick, and 8 siblings and her parents. She is survived by a sister Cleo Mattas, a brother Greg Poletis, her 5 children, their (spouses) and their children, Helen's daughter, Helen Piquette (Richard) Anthony, Christopher, and Teresa, and 4 sons, Paul Jordan (Ingrid), Megan; Patrick Jordan (Madonna), Krystal and Eliza Jane; John Jordan (Karen), Gregory Jordan (Dee) Nicole, Ashley, Julia. A memorial service for Helen will take place at Carolina House from 6-8 PM , Friday, March 18, 2011 , with prayer service at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur March 25, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church, Rockville, MD, with interment following the Mass.
