Joan MarieShoemakerJoan Marie Shoemaker, 78, of Hilton Head Island, died Thursday February 3, 2011, at Hilton Head Hospital. Mrs. Shoemaker was born January 20, 1933, to John and Florence Nork Sherman in Allentown, PA. She married Howard Shoemaker and they moved to Hilton Head in 1990 from Wexford, PA. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband Howard; two children; Jill (Russ) Owen of Choteau, MT, and Todd (Denise) Shoemaker of La Mesa, NM, and their two children, Nicole and Zack. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, Post Office Box 3827 Bluffton, SC 29910. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. www.the islandfuneralhome.com.
