Hilton Head Island, South Carolina - Joanne LaHue died peacefully on August 12, 2024, at the age of 85, in the Frasier, at The Seabrook, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She was born on October 4, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents James Lee Sykes and Dorothy Fay Sykes. She married Richard Foster LaHue on August 29, 1959, in Marion, Indiana, and they had three children. They raised their children in East Granby, Connecticut, moving to Hilton Head Island in 1987.

She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Kay Shelton, of Hilton Head; her brother, John Robert Sykes, of Bluffton, South Carolina; her daughter, Chrisanne LaHue, of Painter, Virginia; her son, Keith Alan LaHue, of Hilton Head Island; her granddaughter, Hilary Anne Johnson Ross and great-grandsons William Franklin Ross IV and Forest Johnson Ross, of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at The Seabrook, 300 Woodhaven Drive, Hilton Head Island, at 3:30 in the afternoon, in the living room. Participants are welcome to share memories or readings.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to The Seabrook Foundation Fund. Go to theseabrook.com, select Giving, select Ways to Give, select Give Now (do not need to make an account) and proceed. An email will be sent regarding your tax-deductible gift; respond to that email to note that the gift is in memory of Joanne LaHue.
