John Fitzgerald Obituary
December 28, 1939 - November 29, 2023
Hilton Head Island , South Carolina - John William Fitzgerald II died peacefully on November 28th, 2023, at his home on Hilton Head Island. He is the son of John William Fitzgerald and Margaret Anne Breau. He is predeceased by his parents, stepmother Margaret Mulloy Fitzgerald and his first wife, Yvonne Borgers Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his wife, Rita (Varano) Fitzgerald, his children John (Julie) and Martin (Kristina) Fitzgerald, Rita's children Janis (Frank) Pulcini, Michael (Thanh) Ferrara and Robert Ferrara, seven grandchildren Kristin, Erin, Michael, Duncan, Amy, Connor and Robert. He is survived by his siblings Mark (Barbara) Fitzgerald, Elaine (Gary) Stillman, Joan (Steve) Leverone, Susan (Mark) Fuller and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
John attended Winchester High School, Northeastern University, University of Rochester and Dartmouth College earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.
He is a decorated U.S. Army Officer.
He worked as an international executive with the Eastman Kodak Company living in Austria, England, Greece, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand and Taiwan. The last five countries he was the Chairman and CEO of the Kodak subsidiary.
He led the Romeos and the yearly St. Francis Men's retreat. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Third Degree), an Usher, an Alter Server and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church.
He loved his work, his family, his country, his life and God.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Island Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on January 4th at 10 AM with a reception to follow at the St. Francis family center. The family invites family and friends to join.

John,
You were a great neighbor and friend. We often conversed out in front of our houses. We came close to solving the most pressing world problems. Andrea and I always enjoyed our discussions and get togethers with you and Rita.
Then there were the blue birds and your mailbox - a battle bravely fought and finally won!
We will miss you.
