Joseph Iaco Obituary

Joseph Iaco
February 1, 1963 - August 9, 2023
Bluffton, South Carolina - Joseph Salvatore Iaco, beloved son of the late Salvatore and Christine Iaco, was born on February 1, 1963, in Stamford, Connecticut. He peacefully departed this world on August 9, 2023, with cherished memories in the hearts of his loved ones.
From a young age, Joe exhibited a strong work ethic and determination. He began his journey by delivering the Stamford Advocate and the Weekly Shopper, fostering a spirit of responsibility that he carried throughout his life. He honed his skills at Grade A, where his father worked, first by pushing shopping carts and later flourishing in the produce department. His hard work led him to buy the legendary red cherry Chevy Celica.
Joe's life was rich with friendships and camaraderie. He fondly remembered his time with the Park Street Gang in Stamford, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He embarked on his educational journey at Stevens School, St. Mary's Parochial School, Saint Maurice, and Saint Gabriel's, culminating in his graduation from Stamford Catholic High School. He furthered his education at the University of New Haven, earning both an undergraduate degree and an MBA.
In his youth, his passion for baseball led him from Federal Little League Baseball to the Babe Ruth League. His professional journey saw him at First Security before venturing out to create his own successful company.
Joe's love for thoroughbred racing wasn't just a hobby-it was a metaphor for life. He understood the ebb and flow, the pace of the race, and embraced every step of the journey. He proudly carried the legacy of being a Reagan Republican, a testament to his unwavering beliefs. His passions were diverse, from being a wine connoisseur to a ride-or-die Raiders fan.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Joanie, with whom he shared a fairytale love story. He was a proud father to Lucas Iaco, Randi Alexandra Plake, and Britton Iaco. He will be missed by his children's spouses, Fallon Iaco, Kayla Iaco, and Brendan Plake. Joe was a cherished brother to Andrea and Steven and his wife Anita, uncle to Jennifer, Nicole, Jake, and Chloe, and godfather to his niece, Kristyn.
His world revolved around his seven grandchildren: Logan Warner, Chiara Palazzo, Nora Iaco, Coraline Plake, Eloise Plake, Jameson Iaco, and Kamryn Iaco.
Joe was a member of the Italian Club and Republican Club, leaving his mark on the community. He was deeply involved in the Savannah/Bluffton area through his work as a stellar media consultant at WOTC. His wisdom and guidance served as a mentor to his colleagues and family, earning him the reputation of being the smartest guy in the room.
He found solace in the pages of books, the sun on his face, and the serenity of Cocoa Beach. His love for travel took him to Italy and Saratoga Springs with his beloved Joanie, creating memories that he held close to his heart.
Joe's journey through life was marked by a deep love for family, unwavering values, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him, forever etched in their memories as a mentor, friend, and inspiration.
A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. at the Palmetto Club at Four Seasons. Flowers can be sent to Joanie Iaco at 101 Carolina Oaks Ave, Bluffton, SC 29910.

It was very sad to loose another good friend and fellow Italian Club member and a true Republican. I still can remember the talks at the Gym.
Rest in peace my friend.

I can´t find the words to describe my heartbreak for the so early passing of my dear Joe. He definitely left his mark whenever or wherever he touched anyone´s life, as a person, as a leader, as a friend. At work he was a genius, his drive, his enthusiasm, his knowledge was contagious, making one better at what needed to be done. Love you so very much! And dearest Joanie so glad you made his life so happy along with all the Iacos to whom I send my deepest condolences. Blessings with love
