Sun City, South Carolina - Karlis Aldis Barons July 23, 1944-November 13, 2022
Karlis Aldis Barons, 78, died on November 13, 2022 at the Pine Ridge Nursing Center in Michigan. A memorial service was held at Pike Funeral Home in Bridgman, Michigan. Karl was born on July 23, 1944 in Latvia. He was an English teacher at Schaumburg High School in Illinois, where he inspired a generation of students. He was the teacher always willing to listen and shared students' enthusiasm for the "AWESOME" movies he taught in his film classes. He was "Mr. Saxon" - announcing football games and leading the student body in spirited pep rallies. Karl loved teaching and encouraged students with patience, kindness and empathy. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and was an avid University of Michigan and Chicago Bears fan. He also loved music - 1960's, Motown, and the Blues, especially the "AWESOME" Chicago Blues. In Sun City, where Karl and his wife Judy spent their winters after retiring, Karl led a radio theatre group, performing in and directing stage productions of 1940's radio shows. Survivors include his brother-in-law Jerry Janecke (Susan); nieces Cindy Janecke (James Hufft) and Lisa (Phil) Dumont; great-nephews Ben and Matthew Dumont, and great-niece Anna Dumont. Karl was proceeded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Judy.

Mr. Barons was a legend....I will always remember his booming voice as the PA announcer at home football games firing up the Saxon fans and players. He bought unbridled enthusiasm to the athletic fields and classrooms of Schaumburg High School. RIP big guy, I will see you at the big game pep rally on the other side....

Wonderful memories of Karl´s generous spirit. He was a great cheerleader for the Schaumburg Saxons at the school assemblies. He and Judy will always be remembered fondly by everyone who worked with them.
