Kenneth Cosky Obituary

Kenneth Cosky
June 24, 1946 - February 20, 2021
Bluffton, South Carolina - On Saturday, February 20, 2021, Kenneth L. Cosky of Bluffton, SC, loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 74.
Ken, lovingly referred to as Butch by his immediate family, was born on June 24, 1946 in Beaver, PA to Thomas and Vendla (Thunberg) Cosky. He graduated from West Virginia University.
Ken is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably as a Sergeant in the Army with the 1st Air Cavalry Division. For his service, he was awarded a Bronze Star for heroic achievement during battle, a Purple Heart for wounds received in battle and an Army Commendation Medal.
Ken worked for the New York State Department of Corrections for 28 years. On April 8, 1972, he married Nancy L. Grohosky. They raised two sons, Jason and Jonathan, in Florida, NY before retiring to Sun City in Bluffton, SC.
Ken was an avid fan of sports, music and travel. He was not only a sports fan, but an all-around athlete who continued to play softball and golf until recently. A passionate supporter of his alma mater, WVU, and all Pittsburgh area sports, Ken traveled all over the country to see games and tournaments, and to visit historic stadiums. From the Masters and several US Opens, to bowl games and NCAA tournaments, Ken was a true fan of sports and often paired this love with opportunities to spend time with family and friends and discover beautiful places. True fact...he visited all 50 states!
When it came to music, you could count on Ken, love it or hate it, to know every classic rock song. Often he would reminisce about his days as the campus DJ at WVU, and quite often you might find yourself in a game of "guess that song". If you were able to catch Ken while immersed in a favorite song, you couldn't help but get joy from his pure happiness.
Whether sports, music, travel mementos (Ken owned hundreds of hats) or images that he captured on his very-much-loved camera each shared the same opportunity for Ken to, through these collected treasures, share his passion with others.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas and Keith. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his two children, Jason and Jonathan, brother Jack, sister Janice, his four loving grandchildren, Eloise, Dexter, Maeve and Benjamin, and many nephews and nieces.
A military funeral service will be held at a later date when all of Ken's friends and family can safely come together to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Kenneth L. Cosky to Memory Matters, 117 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.

Nancy,
Sending heartfelt sympathy to you and the entire family! So glad we had a chance to see him (and you) at the Beaver High reunion. The planet lost a very good man and he will be missed by more people that he would ever have imagined. Hugs, Sue (Reno) and Joe Carlomagno

A few of us from Monaca had good times in the mid '60's with Ken and Dave Forrester and Bob Flynn and a couple others. Hank's Frozen Custard was one of our hang outs. Thanks for your service, Ken, and rest in peace. My regards to your wife and family.
