L.F. Pepin Obituary

L.F. Mike Pepin of Fripp Island, SC died on March 27, 2015. He was born on November 28, 1936 in Springfield, MA, the second child and son of William Francis and Rena Mae Fournier Pepin. He was an active child, involved in many after school activities and was a Life Scout. While in high school he became a Chevrolet Certified Mechanical Technician, continuing his work until graduating from Springfield College in Springfield, MA and later receiving his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England University. In 1970 he and his family moved to Johnson City, TN where he was a regional sales representative of a national valve and pump company and in the late seventies he and his wife Barbara formed Valley Seals and Packing, Inc. He remained active in its operation until he retired in 1995. While in Johnson City he was active in the Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder; he was a 32nd Degree Mason; a strong supporter of the Johnson City Symphony and a member of the Kiwanis Club. Upon his retirement to Fripp Island, SC in 1995 Mike became active in various Island organizations and served as the president of the Fripp Island Community Centre; chairman of the Fripp Island Water and Sewer District; an EMS First Responder and a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, he gave freely of his time helping others on the island with small repair problems. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort, SC. He was predeceased by his mother and father; his wife of 50 years, Barbara Anne Moselle Pepin; and a brother Carl William Pepin. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Conrad Pepin; his sons Paul Alfred (Norma) of Bluffton, SC, Matthew Edward (Marcia) of Coconut Creek, FL and Andrew Leslie (April) of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Daniel, Andrew, Savannah and Sophie; brothers, Dennis (Sylvia) of Winston, GA, Ronald (Billy Jean) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and William (Evelyn) of Aurora, CO; and sister Candyce Ryl (Paul) of Inverness, FL and Rena Pepin of Lakeland, FL. Mike is remembered by his brothers and sisters as a wise older brother who gave good advice when asked. His children and grandchildren remember him as a devoted family man who cherished the time they spent together. Services will be held in the Fripp Island Centre All Faiths Chapel on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 3 P.M. Inurnment will be in the Fripp Island Columbarium. A reception will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the Fripp Island Community Center, 205 Tarpon Blvd., Fripp Island, SC 29920. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
