Margaret Pfeiffer Obituary

Margaret Walker Pfeiffer
December 10, 1939 - March 24, 2022
Beaufort, South Carolina - Margaret Walker Pfeiffer born December 10, 1939 entered the Church Triumphant on March 24, 2022.
Affectionately known as Margey, Margaret grew up as the daughter of Alma and John Walker in Greencastle, Pennsylvania. She attended public schools in the Greencastle-Antrim system. She graduated from Grove City College, Grove City, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She taught elementary education in public schools in New York State. She served as a trained and certified Substance Abuse Counselor in New York and Connecticut. She worked as an Adult Special Education Supervisor and taught individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Margey served God and humankind earlier in the Presbyterian Church and more recently in several United Methodist Churches in Connecticut and Beaufort, SC, where she served faithfully on the Mission and Outreach Committee, the Committee on Christian Nurture, and the United Methodist Women in the Ouida Shearouse Circle. Margey exercised a deep faith, love of God, in service to the Carteret Street United Methodist Church. She is a trained and certified Lay Speaker and leader in the United Methodist Church. Margey actively carried out her belief in the United Methodist Church's commitment to Open Doors, Open Minds and Open Hearts. For many years she invested her energies as a Lay Member in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She passionately generated thousands of dollars for the United Methodist Churches "Imagine No Malaria" Ministry toward the elimination of deadly malaria in Africa. She lead the program in the Newtown Connecticut United Methodist Church and currently in the Carteret Street United Methodist Church. She believed in Ecumenical Ministries. She taught lessons on the Bible in the Adult Trinity Sunday School Class, and hosted in-home monthly,
Lectionary Bible Studies. She was an avid reader and founded and studied in the church's Seekers Book Club and the Night Owls Book Club. She diligently completed the Walterboro District United Methodist Women Reading Program. The United Methodist Women granted her recognition of her strong commitment to social justice and mission outreach work. She enjoyed serving as Sunshine Coordinator in her Ouida Shearouse Circle, sending cards regularly to homebound or ill persons. She was Co-Chaplain of the church Gray Blades Fellowship. She preached and lead worship periodically at local nursing homes. She lovingly developed and helped lead the Prayer Shawl Ministry which knits and crochets and has distributed 550 plus prayer shawls to persons both in and outside the church. Prayer shawl persons give them to comfort those in distress and to celebrate new life as in baptisms and weddings. Margey enjoyed and promoted her church, Bible study, prayer, worship, Holy Communion, baptism, meditation, spiritual growth, forgiveness, reconciliation, peacemaking, inclusion, equality, and service of others. She particularly cherished the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) which invests 100% of funds donated in relief of human suffering. In her 32 years as a clergy spouse she supported, shared and enriched immensely Terry's ministry. She helped comfort people, assist in pastoral and hospital visits, and pray with people. She loved bridge, all kinds of board games, trivia games, Scrabble, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Rummikub, bocce and winning over her husband! She thoroughly enjoyed fishing and out fishing her husband! She had a delightful sense of humor. Essentially, Margey loved God with all her heart, soul, mind and strength, and her neighbor as herself, as Jesus asked us to. She blessed many by her love and their wonderful love blessed her.
Survivors include her loving husband, Reverend Terry Pfeiffer; her son, David Hale and wife Corey Tartarczuk, granddaughters Chloe and Zola Hale, Brooklyn NY; her daughter, Karen Roberts and granddaughter Katelyn Roberts and grandson Christopher Roberts, Beaufort SC; Terry's son Douglas Pfeiffer, wife Karen Karbiener, granddaughter Annike Karbiener Pfeiffer, Manhattan, NY; Terry's son
