Maria Gregg Obituary

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina - Maria Gregg, wife of Ted Gregg, of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at her residence from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) that had been diagnosed in April 2022.
Born in Gyor, Hungary on January 6, 1945, Maria was the daughter of Laszlo and Julianna Pinter.
In 1956, Maria at the age of eleven, along with her mother, stepfather and three younger brothers escaped Hungary during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and made their way to Austria and eventually to the United States.
Maria graduated from Trenton High School in Trenton, NJ and worked various jobs until she went to college majoring in accounting and computer science at Newman University. She later worked for various banks and insurance companies in Philadelphia, a pharmaceutical company in Wilmington, DE before traveling the world in Product Management and as a data security consultant for SAP. After leaving SAP, Maria served as Manager of SAP Data Security for a pharmaceutical company in Frazer, PA.
Maria and Ted retired to Hilton Head Island in 2004. However, Maria's retirement was short-lived as SAP persuaded her to continue consulting on a part-time basis for the next ten years. In her free time, she became a certified yoga instructor and founded and taught chair yoga classes at First Presbyterian Church. In addition to yoga, she was regularly active in the knitting club and Sarah Circle at her church.
In addition to her husband of 35 years, Maria is survived by her son Greg Hajcak, his wife Alex Meyer, and grandson Laszlo Hajcak Meyer, all of Aptos, CA. In addition, Maria is survived by her siblings, John Pinter (Karen) of Wilmington, DE, Alex Komjati (Robin) of The Villages, FL, and Ernie Komjati of Yardley, PA.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Maria on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island. Those who are unable to attend in person are welcome to watch the service live by going to https://www.fpchhi.org/memorial-services. Also, the service will be recorded for viewing later by going to the same website.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maria Gregg Scholarship Fund at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.

Ted and Alex,
So sorry to hear Maria died in November, I just heard today......we do not get the Island packet..................Ted just so sorry we did not even call you.............
Maria was such a lovely person, as well as being so smart and so very talented..........fantastic with her knitting and cooking. I enjoyed so much going with her to the cooking classes at Michael Anthony's...................
Thinking of you both............Such a very sad time...
