Michael Myers Obituary

Michael Myers

November 28, 1957 - March 13, 2025

Bluffton, South Carolina - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael John Myers on March 13, 2025, surrounded by his wife Kate, his children Sean and Abbey and son-in-law Ahmad. Michael, with Kate at his side, faced early onset Alzheimer's disease with remarkable courage.

Born in Lafayette, Indiana and raised in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of John D. Myers and Kathleen Locke preceding him in death. Michael earned his Chemistry degree from University of Toledo before joining the family business, Kigre, Incorporated. He relocated along with the company to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 1986. He worked together with his father and family, eventually becoming President until the business was sold in 2018.

While Michael succeeded professionally, his true passion was his family. He dedicated himself to his wife and children, traveling the world with them and turning ordinary days into celebrations. There was not a person unmoved by the special bond, he and Kate shared as husband and wife for 33 years. He was a loving and adoring husband, father and wonderful son-in-law (Pat and Peg Varley). Michael was generous and kind and always quick to help friends or strangers alike, without hesitation.

Michael found joy on the water and in nature. He was equal parts dreamer, entrepreneur, patriot, scientist, devoted family man and friend. His corny jokes reliably brought smiles and his adventurous spirit meant no challenge was too big. Despite his illness, his memory of loved ones remained intact until the end.

Though his time on this earth ended at age 67, Michael lived fully, loved deeply and continues to live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.

Michael's funeral service will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church (HHI) on Friday, May 23, with visitation at 9:15 AM and the Catholic Requiem Mass at 10 AM.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Crescent Hospice of the Low Country, and Alzheimer's Association.
