Patrick Bennison Obituary
February 21, 1938 - August 27, 2024
Forth Mill, South Carolina - The Hon. Patrick C. Bennison, D.D.S., age 86, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024 in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Born on February 21, 1938, Dr. Pat, as he affectionally was known, was a native of Frankfort, New York; and lived in both Herkimer, New York and in Sea Pines (Hilton Head Island), South Carolina before moving closer to his daughter in Tega Cay, South Carolina.
Dr. Pat lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community. He was a proud graduate of Canterbury School, Georgetown University, and New York University College of Dentistry. As a young man, he served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Following his service, he pursued a career in dentistry marked by compassion and skill serving the people of the Mohawk Valley. He then continued his work in Hilton Head volunteering with Volunteers In Medicine. His dedication to public service extended beyond his professional life, as he also served on numerous boards and as Herkimer Town Supervisor, where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his fellow residents.
Dr. Pat was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 50-years, Sally D. Bennison. He found a way to carry-on but missed her every day. He is survived by his son, Patrick C. Bennison (husband, Emanuel Souza); and daughter, Amy D. Bennison. His family, both immediate and extended, was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hilton Head Island at 10:00 on February 15, 2025. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Via Health Partners hospice care based in Charlotte, North Carolina (www.viagiving.org), an organization that provided invaluable support and care with dignity in Dr. Pat's final days. Pat's legacy of service, dedication, and love will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but forever in our hearts.

Dear family,
Dr. Bennison hired me as a dental assistant with no experience in dentistry whatsoever and it was the best job I ever had! He was a mentor and a true friend. I have such fond memories of my time there and chance meetings later.
It makes me sad that I was unable to say goodbye.
I know he will be sorely missed. Love and hugs...Nola

I was co-chairman of many Class reunions and Pat and his wife attended a number of them. He always had a smile and an optimistic outlook. RIP Pat. Ward O'Neill

Amy and PC, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Uncle Pat was such a wonderful man. To this day I think about the memories visiting your family in both NY and HHI. He was so generous, kind, family-oriented, and funny. You have my deepest condolences and are in my prayers.

I met Dr Pat through his wife Sally. He had surgery on his shoulder. She wanted me to get the Christmas decorations out of the attic and put them up under his supervision. I continued to do this and many other things around the house. His trust in me was more than most people knew. He told me over lunch one day that I was working for him that I was the only man he trusted to be in his house alone with his wife. Pat, Sally and I had many laughs together while I fixed things around the house. He was great friend. I miss him alot after Sally passed and he moved to be closer to Amy. It's been an honor to know him and his family. God bless. He is with our father and savior.
