Andrew C. MacDermott

It is with full hearts and deep reverence that we celebrate the life of Andrew Charles MacDermott, a man of extraordinary wisdom, enduring strength, great morality and a commitment to the bonds of family and friendship.

Andrew was born on August 11, 1974 to Susan Frank and William Frank (deceased), and also son to William MacDermott (deceased). Though he grew up as an only child, he was always surrounded by friends, family and neighbors.

Andrew graduated from Allegheny College and earned his master's degree in political science from Georgetown University. That led to a distinguished career performing senior roles as a civilian in the Department of State, Department of Defense, Department of the Army and Department of the Navy. His commitment to service was only outpaced by his desire to learn and better understand the communities, relationships, cultures and individuals wherever he found himself.

Though Andrew's journey was completed on February 2, 2026, it was indeed full. It came with love, laughter, travel, food and fun. It came with dedication to this nation with the silent sacrifices made by U.S. Government civilians. It came with integrity, selflessness and caring. His humility, smile and thirst for knowledge will be remembered by all he touched. He is survived by his mother, Susan Frank.
