Robert Stauffer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Neely Funeral Home on Feb. 23, 2026.
Robert "Bob" L. Stauffer age 89 passed away on February 20, 2026, just a few weeks shy of his 90th birthday on March 14th. He was born in Pittsburgh during the Great St. Patrick's Day flood of 1936. He is a graduate of West View High School, where he played trumpet in the marching band and later attended Allegheny College. He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, some of the time stationed at the North Park missile site during the early 60s. Over the course of his life, he developed a lifelong love of baseball, football and antique cars. A Pittsburgh Pirates fan, he was present at the famous 7th game of the 1960 world series and saw Bill Mazeroski hit the game winning home run. He was an ardent fan of the Steelers and The Ohio State, although he would watch any football game at any level. He was a member, and past president, of the North Hills Historic Auto Club. He owned many antique cars over the years, although his favorite was a 1951 Mercury. He loved it so much, years after selling it, he bought it back. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, assisting for years with their annual yard sale. He was a man of few words and a stage 4 lung cancer survivor, living 13+ years past diagnosis and surgery.

Husband of JoAnn Hanzel Stauffer.

Father of Rebecca Stauffer (Dave Dopp), Wendy Brennan (Chris), Don Stauffer (Colleen) and Christy Stauffer.

Grandfather of Cody Pilzer.

Son of the late John G. and Marie Stauffer.

Brother of Carolyn Ferrence.
