Philip Wanzek Obituary

Philip Joseph Wanzek Philip Joseph Wanzek, 90 of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina formerly of Windsor, North Dakota, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Monday, November 17, 2014. Phil volunteered for the Navy in 1942. He was sent to Guadalcanal in the year 1942. When he returned he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and received his BSEE in 1946 and his MBA in 1948. He "retired" after forty years with Pirelli Cable Corporation and became self-employed for high voltage cable for the Esco Division of Pirelli. Phil traveled the world during his employment. Phil married in April, 1947 to Helen Quimby (deceased) and had one son and two daughters. On a business trip to Hilton Head Island in 1982, Phil met local resident, Shirley Beckman, who has two sons, and they have been married for 19 years. During their marriage they enjoyed traveling, mixing business with pleasure, and shared numerous rounds of golf together in many parts of the world. Phil and Shirley have many friends who have been so supportive throughout the years and most recently during the last few months. Shirley would like to thank the three Hospice Nurses for their wonderful care in helping Phil to rest in peace, and additionally thank you to Pat, the Emeritus Nurse and her staff. Celebration of Phil's Life will be December 1, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Indigo Hall Golf Club. Indigo Run, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be made in his name to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910 or Hilton Head Island Human Society, P.O.
