Richard Harter Obituary

Richard (Dick) T. Harter Richard (Dick) T. Harter, age 67, of Hilton Head, South Carolina was born July 2, 1948 and was a longtime resident of Chatham, New Jersey. He passed away on January 17, 2016. He attended Villanova University and was an avid fan of Villanova basketball. Dick was a former member of Canoe Brook Country Club and a member of The Golf Club at Indigo Run, where he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. He also served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Property Owners Association of The Golf Club. Golf and his family were his passions. Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Lynn Gilligan Harter, daughter Julie Goldstrom and her husband Seth, son Doug Harter and his wife Katie, and seven grandchildren Reilly, Morgan, Caroline, Meghan, Connor, Thomas and Olivia. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, John and Lynda Harter of Chatham, New Jersey and Robert and Lynne Harter of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and his brother-in-law Gene Gilligan of Hilton Head, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Rita Harter and his grandson, Jack Harter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PMD Foundation, 1 Green Tree Center, 10000 Lincoln Drive East, Suite 201, Marlton, NJ 08053 or Villanova School of Business Fund, 800 E. Lancaster Avenue, Villanova, PA 19085. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church in Hilton Head, SC. So Very Sorry to hear of the Passing of Dick ...Please accept Our Deepest Sympathy on Your Loss and extend it to Your Family for Us ..He was a Great Guy to work for and I Admired and respected Him.. I also liked the Nickname He use to call me every now and then ...I know He will be missed Dearly By His Family and will be Remembered with Great Affection , Respect by those who got to Know the Man ..

I am so sorry to hear this news. Dick was always such a charismatic and warm person and a natural born leader...I was a year behind him in high school. The last time I saw him, we were probably still in our teens, but I can easily picture him in my mind. My sympathies are extended to all of his family and loved ones.
