Roger Wayne Calhoun

Roger Wayne Calhoun Beaufort, S.C. Roger Wayne Calhoun, 61, of Yemassee, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at his residence. Born in Grundy, Virginia, a son of Maebelle Woodard Calhoun and the late Stewart Calhoun. Roger was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers and was the set-up man for the "Straight Shooter" band. Survivors include his mother, Maebelle Woodard Calhoun of Canton, Ohio; his wife of 42 years, Kathleen Jessee Calhoun of Yemassee; two daughters, Natasha Perkins of Columbia, S.C.; Lena Marie Ball of Beaufort; one brother, James Carter Calhoun and his wife Linda of Ruther Glen, VA; five grandchildren, Lyndsey and MacKenzie Ball, Sherry Whalley, Artemas Jessee McDiffith and Thea Washington; two step-grandchildren, Lucy and Nathan Whalley, and a special pet companion, "Miss Wiggles". He was predeceased by a step-grandson, Eli Whalley. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to your local SPCA.
