Hilton Head Island, South Carolina - Ruth A. Schroeder was born to Henry and Matilda Schroeder in Jersey City, New Jersey, on December 18, 1937.
Ruth graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont. Her affection for Vermont continued as she enjoyed many years of traveling to the state for weekly ski trips with her brother and their friends.
After living in California, and working at the UCLA Medical Center, Ruth returned to New Jersey and managed the Hackensack Radiology Group office for 23 years. She semi-retired to Hilton Head Island in 1995, joining her sister's and brother's families on the island. She worked part time at the local Belk store in human resources and payroll, as well as the Arts Center.
Ruth was an avid golfer at Port Royal and Oyster Reef golf clubs. After living in Sea Pines for over 20 years, she moved to TidePointe, where she participated in the golf group, multiple weekly bridge games, and trivia nights.
Ruth thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Schroeder, her brother-in-law Robert McEwan, and her great nephew Andrew McEwan. She is survived by her sister, Doris McEwan, and her sister-in-law, June Schroeder. She had many wonderful times with her nephew Craig McEwan and his wife Nancy, her niece Gail Bottoms and her husband Bill, and her nephew Scott McEwan and his wife Mylan. Ruth also treasured her many visits with her great nieces Jenna Elliott (Ben) and Kelly Blaine (James) and great nephew Curtis Bottoms, as well as great greats Jackson, Finley, Max, and Bowen.
