Sylvia Grove Hitchcock

Sylvia Grove Hitchcock Sylvia Grove Hitchcock, 84, of Round Rock, TX, formerly from Hilton Head, SC and Cincinnati, OH, daughter of Paul D. Grove & Margaret C. Monaghan, passed away August 29, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George Hitchcock; daughters Paula Hawley and Martha Grandin (Kevin); grandsons Ryan Grandin (Erica), Kyle Grandin and Anthony Scott; and great-grandson 'Hitch' Grandin. She is preceded in death by son Tom Hitchcock. Syl was born in Cincinnati and graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 1951 and received her nursing degree (BSN) from Skidmore College in 1955. She received her Nurse Practitioner Certification in 1980 and focused her entire career on Women's Health. She was a member of the Shore Notes (Sweet Adelines group in Hilton Head) and the Hilton Head Choral Society as well as the Port Royal Plantation Club and Unity Church. Sylvia was happiest when surrounded by family and friends! She lived life to its fullest, was known as an 'Energizer Bunny' and loved entertaining and lending a helping hand wherever needed. In keeping with her true giving spirit and love of the medical field, Syl has willed her body to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. A celebration of life service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Hilton Head on October 28, 2017 at 11:00am. Donations in her honor can be made to the Hilton Head Shore Notes or Hilton Head Choral Society, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
