William Asnip Obituary

William Asnip IV

May 10, 1955 - July 11, 2025

Okatie, South Carolina - William Davis Asnip IV

May 10, 1955 - July 11, 2025

William Davis Asnip, IV, known to many as Bill Asnip Jr., passed away on July 11, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on May 10, 1955, in Greenville, South Carolina, Bill was a longtime resident of Hilton Head Island.

He was the son of William Davis Asnip II and Geraldine Norris Asnip, and the stepson of Susan Segars Asnip. Bill cherished his family and valued every moment spent with them. Known for his remarkable memory and joy of storytelling, he brought fun and laughter to many through the stories he loved to share.

Bill was a proud graduate of Auburn University and never missed a chance to cheer on his Tigers. He always had a War Eagle! ready to go. He worked as a general contractor then spent many years in the real estate business.

A man of unwavering faith, Bill was always quick to offer a prayer or comforting word to anyone facing hardship. His heart for service was evident in his many years of volunteer work with prison ministry, where he touched countless lives with his compassion and empathy. He believed his most important contribution to the world was his daughter, Anna.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, William III and Timothy, and his nephew, Crockett. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Anna Asnip Simmons; his stepmother, Susan Asnip; and his siblings: Deborah (Dave) Brunner, Michael (Amy) Asnip, Jennifer (Frank) Quattlebaum, and Kenneth (Whitney) Asnip. He also leaves behind twelve nieces and nephews, twelve great-nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of cousins and friends who will miss him greatly.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11:00 AM on August 9 at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 50 Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kairos Prison Ministry of SC. Bill was always positive with a good sense of humor and caring words. His life reflected his love of the Lord in all he did. Well done good and faithful servant. Rest in peace.
