Johns Island, South Carolina - William Lorren Hartmann, 53, died too young, but peacefully of natural causes on May 13, 2022 on Johns Island, South Carolina.
William was born on May 25, 1968 to Evelyn Koth and Marshall Hartmann, Sr. (both of whom preceded him in death). He was known to friends and family as Billy/Bill and William. He was a proud graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology. He lived in Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Virginia during his career as a Civil Engineer. More recently, he lived in Pennsylvania after attending Juniata College and earning a Master of Accounting. William was exceptionally gifted and exceled in school. With these successes came struggles with his mental health. While there were struggles, there were also joyous times. He enjoyed many aspects of life including a good meal (especially those made by his mother), art, riding his bicycles, fashion, meeting and talking with new people, listening to music, and his never-ending search for a husband. However, even a cute guy would not have been able to pry chocolate or pizza out of his hands if William did not want to share. Everyone always knew they better get in line before him when serving their plates at a family meal or a buffet. Tales of his food escapades have been widely shared by the family for years. It is hard to say whether William loved food or riding his bicycles more, but we know he loved his mom most of all.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17th at Evergreen Cemetery.
