Stratty was a great one and brought a lot of joy ( and fish) to me, my family and many out of town first-time fisherman. I was always struck by his life experience and his world view and his ability to convey excellent advice through storytelling. This really made a good impression on young people and even us older frIends noticed what a tremendous angler and person he was, without any need to brag on himself. I will miss him a great deal and remember hiim reverantly . Excellent duck hunter also. Very kind soul who was good to all, especially young and old.

I made a trip with Stratty and Woodie on the Arenas fishing out of McClellanville. Stratty left after that trip and went back to Beaufort. I made a few more trips with Woody and Skeeter.I ran into Stratty about 15 years later. Then again after another few years. Safe to say, we had more in common than the Arenas.

Hard to believe WS is gone. I'd have figured he'd be at all our funerals. The Marquis du Meau d'Laun, an icon, a natural poet, a lowcountry legend. You will be sorely missed.

My life, my girls' lives will be richer because of Big Daddy, Big Stratty. I just don't have words that describe his big hug when he welcomed you into a room, his laughter, his perfect words that made you feel okay. You will be anchored in our hearts forever Big Daddy! We love you! -Wendy, Abbie and Julia

Tight lines my friend.

The world is a better place as a result of the time that Statty spent with us. I for one learnd alot from him, about boats, life, and most importantly how to have fun while working the every day grind that working on the water can bring. I will never step.foot on a boat again with out thinking of him and the times we shared together. My heart goes out to all his family and friends. Capt. Pete Fulton.

Great friends reunited

Heaven is a brighter place as Capt. Stratty joins his friend, Willy Sherrod. It was just a few short months ago, that Stratty stood with a special group of friends as honorary pallbearer. Capt. Stratty was respected and loved by many. Christian---I know how very proud he was of you as he spoke of you often. And, I know how much he loved you, Barbara. as he also spoke fondly of you. Capt. Stratty will be greatly missed.
