Alvin Tagney Obituary

LYNN -- Alvin Tagney, 90, former principal of Lynn English High School, passed away on December 18, 2019 in Clearwater, Florida. Al was a 1948 graduate of Lynn English. He went on to study at Tufts University and earned a bachelors and masters degree from Salem State College. He enjoyed a long career at his high school alma mater as a history teacher, head basketball coach, vice-principal and principal. After a lifetime of service and dedication, he was inducted into the Lynn English High School Hall of Fame. Al and his wife,Lucille, retired in 1990 and settled at Cedar Hammock Country Club in Naples, Florida. He enjoyed a variety of activities which included travel, photography, reading, and GOLF! Mr. Tagney was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucille(Hayes) and brothers Frederick and Vernon. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Britt of Penfield, NY; son Kevin (Julie) of Safety Harbor, Florida; daughter Kim Monaco (Jim) of Groveland, MA; stepdaughters Karen MacPherson (Peter Hardin) of Tacoma Park, MD; and Anne MacPherson of Boston; as well as grand-children Kristin and Jim Monaco and Sally and Tim Hardin.
