Arlene R. Youngstead

DANVERS -- Arlene R. Youngstead, 69 years, of Danvers and formerly of Lynn and Arizona, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a long illness. She was born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Oscar and Rita (Nelson) Youngstead. She was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. She most recently lived in Danvers. Several years ago she was told she had only a few months to live with lung cancer and she defied all odds and survived for 17 years. She was a member of the East Baptist Church of Lynn and a religious person who read inspirational books. She loved the poem "Footprints."? She enjoyed crocheting and going on trips to Foxwoods, most of all she loved being a nana. She was employed as a CNA at Union Hospital. She is survived by her two daughters, Arlene DeMattia and her late husband Charles DeMattia Jr. of Lynn, Paulette Canatselos and her late husband George Canaselos of Rochester, N.H.; her grandchildren, Krystal Vacketta and her husband Brandon of Danvers, Amanda DeMattia of Arizona, Stacey DeMattia of Lynn, Nickolette Canatselos of Salem,  Georgina Canatselos of New Hampshire, and Ace Stanley of New Hampshire. She leaves 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Joan Halfrey and her husband Al of Arizona, Barbara Moulison of Lynn; and a brother, Walter Youngstead and his wife Carol of North Carolina. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Service information: Her wake and memorial services are on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route129), Lynn.
