Brian Murphy Obituary

Brian C. Murphy, 65
1960 - 2025
Swampscott - Brian Christopher Murphy, 65, of Swampscott, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025. Born on June 12, 1960, he was the son of the late William H. and Jo-Anne (O'Leary) Murphy. Brian lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family, friends, and community.
In March of 2002, Brian became the proud President and Owner of Crown Trophy, a local franchise serving schools, sports teams, and businesses throughout the North Shore. What began in Middleton, MA, later moved to Peabody in 2012, where Brian's hard work and genuine spirit helped the business thrive. He loved connecting with people and took pride in providing recognition for the accomplishments of others.
Outside of work, Brian was an avid sports fan. He loved playing golf and watching all Boston sports in shorts, regardless of the season, from his big chair in the living room.
Brian was predeceased by his parents and his brother-in-law, Matthew Callahan and sister-in-law, Mary Beth Callahan.
He will be dearly missed and is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Callahan Murphy; loving children, Suzanne Gassman and her husband Chris, Caroline Pennoyer and her husband Paul and Christopher Murphy and his fiancée Allison May. He was a proud and adoring "Grampy" to his grandchildren - Luke, Henry, and Elizabeth - who brought endless joy to his life. He also leaves behind his siblings, Bill and his wife Jerrine, Brendan and his wife Jennifer, Carol Barker and her husband David, and Bob and his wife Mindy, as well as his brothers-in-law, Christopher Callahan and his wife Anne, John Callahan and his wife Diane, and many nieces and nephews.
Throughout his 65 years, Brian wore many titles: son, brother, business owner, coach, uncle, husband, father and grandfather - but his favorite was Dad. He spent countless hours coaching his children in little league, softball, basketball, and soccer - not to mention attending almost every game they played and countless tournaments, practices, and clinics. He was always present, cheering them on and enjoying every moment with them on the field.
Brian was full of energy, wit, and warmth. He had a way of making people feel at ease, and his sense of humor and joy for life left a mark on everyone who knew him. Brian will be deeply missed, but his love, laughter, and zest for life will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Service Information: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Rt. 1A), Lynn. Brian was three years ahead of me in high school; his younger sister, Carole, was my year. I remember "Farmer" always wearing a warm smile that went so well with his fun-loving nature. May his memory be for a blessing, and his soul bound up in the bond of eternal life. Hugs to all his beloved family.

Dear Elizabeth & family,

We are sorry to hear of Brian's passing. We came to know Brian through Chris & Jack's relationship with St. John's Prep baseball and stayed in touch over the years. Every conversation we had was filled with laughter and always proud recollections of your children and growing families. He was one of the good ones and we are profoundly sorry for your loss.

Elizabeth I am so sorry. Brian was my friend, our friend and I am speechless. Although a few years younger we always connected. I´ll never forget how Brian and our summer league basketball team with Artie O´Neal ruled. Our hearts are empty. We will love Brian foo. Mike Lynch
