1954 - 2024
Wakefield - Daniel Charles Winn of Wakefield, died on April 18, 2024.
Dan grew up in Lynnfield and was one of those rare people who truly did not have an enemy in the world. He was a lover of the arts. He loved music, classical and rock in particular, art of all kinds. He was an avid reader and a talented poet. A lifelong -and very vocal-fan of Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox, Dan was also a fan of rugby and was a former member of the Old Gold Rugby Football team in Boston. He loved to grill and smoke foods and could be seen dusting snow off his smoker in order to prepare a Christmas Eve feast. Dan could engage truly anyone in a spirited conversation-having an insatiable curiosity and interest in just about any subject. His sense of humor and bright mind will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves his wife, Wendy, of 39 years, and his five siblings: Matthew, Alice, Sheila, Jennifer, and Kate, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held in Maine this summer.

What a very handsome picture of Dan. He was definitely a mentor and friend to me when we met at Progress Software. He quickly introduced me to Wendy and you could see they were two peas in a pod, Both beyond intelligent and quick witted and quick to laugh out loud. I would often see them walking the lake and Wakefield, Something they did often. I think Dan would say he needed that. I hope he is smoking trout in the big green egg in the sky xoxo

So sorry to hear of Dan's passing. Enjoyed being his teammate the few seasons he played with Beacon Hill. We played a few rounds of golf together as well, he was a good person to spend time with. Enjoyed his unique perspective.
