Lynn - Douglas F. Savory, age 87, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lilyan (Kureta) Savory, with whom he celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary this year. A lifelong Lynn resident, he was the son of the late James F. and Vivian A. (Mathieu) Savory. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1955 and was a member of the Varsity basketball team.
Doug joined the United States Army in 1958 and was stationed in Fort Knox, KY. He worked as a Quality Control Manager for Lynn Screw Corp for 40 years, and then for ten years at Sterling Machine in Lynn, until his retirement. He loved music and was the frontman for the band Doug & Doug Duo, playing weddings and events all over the North Shore. He was an organizer and coach for West Lynn American Little League. Doug enjoyed his life, traveling with his wife, and attending as many of his granddaughters' dance and sporting events as he could. In Doug's free time he enjoyed spending most of the day in his backyard where he would tend to his garden and fish pond. He always enjoyed passing out his fresh vegetables and making his famous "Papas Pickles". He loved his family deeply and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving son, Kevin J. Savory of Peabody; his loving daughter, Kaaren N. Savory and Joseph Foglietta of Middleton; his adored granddaughters, Courtney Remson and her fiancé Zachary Mercier of Plaistow, NH, and Carley Zamorano and her husband Aaron of Georgetown; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Savory.
Service Information: His memorial visitation will be on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 11AM-12:30PM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn, with a memorial service beginning at 12:30PM.
