Eric Ciccone Obituary

Eric "Rick" Ciccone, 57

1964 - 2022

MARBLEHEAD - Eric "Rick" Ciccone, a longtime resident of Marblehead, passed away on January 9, 2022. He was 57.

Eric was raised in Revere and attended Revere High School. While there he met Amy Bright, who became his high school sweetheart and later, after they both attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, his wife. Eric and Amy (Bright) Ciccone shared 30 years of marriage and raised their three children in Marblehead.

Eric captained the Revere High gymnastics team and continued his gymnastics career, again rising to team captain, at UMass-Amherst. A graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at UMass, where he earned an accounting degree, Eric worked for his family's business, Beden Hardware, in Lynn. He eventually ran the business along with his brother John and ensured that Beden continued to provide excellent service to its customers despite the growing prevalence of large building supply box stores. He was an active member of the Lynn business community and took part in numerous betterment projects with the Greater Lynn Chamber of Commerce and the Lynn Business Partnership.

Eric, a devout Catholic, was equally active in his faith life as a member of Marblehead's Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.

Just as he was devoted to his family, Eric was also a devoted friend, forever willing to lend a hand or help others however and whenever needed.

His was an exuberant and radiant personality. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends at home and at his family's lakeside cabin in Maine. He greatly enjoyed his red wine, a nice cigar, lively company, and good food — some of his favorite activities were family dinners, Bloody Mary brunches, and Friday "luppers," a weekly combination of lunch and supper to kick off the weekend, always eaten before 5 p.m.

Eric was skilled in manual work, including renovating and helping build his home and the Maine cabin.

He enjoyed music, dancing, laughter and singing and was a generous host, never failing to ensure a great time — and large quantities of good food and drink — for his guests. His smile was seemingly constant.

Eric was a proud and patriotic American and closely followed current events.

In addition to his wife Amy, Eric was the devoted father of Eric Ciccone, Adrienne Ciccone, and Annelise Ciccone, all of Marblehead. He is also survived by his mother, Nancy Ciccone of Marblehead, his brother John Ciccone and his wife Liane of Peabody, his brother-in-law Michael Broderick of Marblehead, many nieces and nephews, and a great niece.

Eric was the son of the late John Ciccone of Marblehead and the brother of the late Theresa Broderick of Marblehead.

He was also a devoted "dad" to his family's late Labrador Retriever, Champ; the two loved each other's companionship.

Service Information: Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 15th from 9: 30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead. Kristi and I are stunned and saddened to hear that Eric is gone. Really nice guy with a great zest for life. We´ll always remember him with his Dad dancing on the picnic table at our lake party. We´ll miss seeing him cruising past our dock on your pontoon boat wearing his distinctive white cap.

Amy and Family,
I just heard about Eric. He was such a big part of the building of our gymnastics program at UMass. While it has been over 30 years since I had seen Eric and many of those team members, I often think back with the fondness of memories in training Eric and the hardwork, positive attitude and dedication he exhibited to our team. Always upbeat and ready to take on a new challenge. Our thoughts are with you.
Sincerely,
Coach Johnson and Family

My deepest sympathy to the Ciccone family. Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Rick a few times, I feel as though I knew him through the stories Amy would tell me on our daily lunchtime walks. I know he loved his family as they love him and he will be sorely missed. May he rest in eternal peace.
